The opening “FIRST CLASS", the inaugural exhibit of Usdan's Portfolio Preparation class, launched with a reception at the Lobby Gallery of 430 Park Avenue (56th Street) in Manhattan. The exhibit will be on view in this gallery until March 7.

More than ninety students recently gathered at the Hexter Chess Center for Usdan's fifth annual Chess Challenge. Open to students in grades K-12, the tournament was U.S. Chess Federation-rated.

Angela and Scott Jaggar will again provide Usdan opportunities for 2012 students from the Hempstead schools. These wonderful Usdan friends were introduced to the Center by Amy Hagedorn, a member of Usdan's Leadership Council.

Andrew Housholder, a preeminent choral conductor and a mentor to a generation of Usdanites, has passed away following an extended illness. Andy was the conductor of Usdan's Senior Chorus during the early years of the Center.

A Usdan tradition continued on July 5th when mimes Keith Berger and Sharon Diskin (The Chameleons) gave their annual performance at the Festival Concerts.

Usdan's recent Gala was attended by the Center's friends and sustainers, including Erica Kuhn, a beloved friend to a generation of Usdanites.

A three-week string seminar concluded on July 15 with performances by Orchestra III and Orchestra IV in the McKinley Amphitheater.
