Erica Kuhn, our beloved friend and founding Usdanite, passed away recently.
Erica's indomitable spirit and high artistic standards helped her fellow founders to realize their dream of creating a haven for children whose passion is the arts. Her energy imbued our Center with inspiration and love, as she also expected great accomplishments of her "children." The result was an institution in which joy is imparted, and excellence assumed.
Erica's journey from war torn Europe to her new life in America was filled with challenges, but also with the satisfaction of her 65-year marriage to her husband, John. In recent years, she continued to volunteer each week in our New York Office, and she treasured these days of immersion in all things Usdan. Erica reveled in the stories of her Usdanites, in whose success she took enormous pride.
Erica's jaunty morning greeting, "Hiya, Honey," will long be remembered in the hearts and minds of tens of thousands of Usdanites. Her voice continues to ring out in the music of her children, and in the joy that she brought to a grateful community of students, artists, and educators.
I invite you to join the Board and Staff for Erica's Memorial Service. It will be held on Tuesday, June 5, at 4:00 PM. The location follows:
