The Open House will be a wonderful way to enjoy the energy of many families exploring Usdan's campus at the same time. Visitors will be greeted at the Administration Building by faculty and staff, who will then introduce visitors to course options at Usdan, and will also review the application process. First Class, the inaugural exhibit of works by students of Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts’ 2011 Portfolio Preparation Track will be presented at two public spaces from January to March 2012. Both exhibits are free and open to the public. Previous exhibits by students in the program (formerly titled the Usdan Honors Art Intensive) have been presented at major public venues in New York City and on Long Island.

First Class features 6 of Long Island's talented 11th and 12 grade artists, each showing works that highlight their conceptual and artistic depth. Genres include life drawing, still life, self-portrait, landscape, photography, and sculpture. The artists are: Jessica Boyd of Shreiber High School, Manhasset, NY; Jessica Curry of Deer Park High School, Deer Park, NY; Denise Losee of Mepham High School, North Merrick, NY; Emily Rabinowitz of Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK High School, Old Bethpage, NY; Nicole Wildstein of Jericho High School, Jericho, NY; and Julie Zeitoun of Jericho High School, Jericho, NY.

Exhibit dates are: in New York City, from January 24 to March 7 at The Lobby Gallery, 430 Park Avenue (between 55th and 56th Streets). There will be an opening reception on Tuesday January 24. The show then continues to Long Island’s Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, where it will be presented in the Tilles Center Atrium on Thursday March 8 to Thursday March 22. There will be a closing reception there on Thursday March 22.

WEEKEND GUIDED TOURS
Usdan's beautiful campus comes alive each Fall with Open Houses, Weekend Tours by appointment, and Weekday Walks by appointment. These events are designed to introduce students and families to opportunities for study at the Center next summer. Weekend guided tours may be arranged by appointment. Led by alumni or staff, Usdan tour guides provide families with detailed course information, an orientation to the campus, and information about popular combinations of major and minor classes. WEEKDAY WALKS (SELF-GUIDED CAMPUS TOURS)
The Center is open most weekdays, and prospective students and their families are welcome to take self-guided tours by appointment. Theses tours include a greeting and campus orientation in the office, and a self-guided campus walk.
